If you are on the initial steps in your journey as a freelance content writer, here are some tips that might be fruitful to you.
Deciding on becoming a freelancer is not an easy choice. It comes with its own bowl of doubts and contemplations. But, once you’ve made up your mind about the nature of your work, there’s no turning back.
Here are 5 things to refrain from just after you’ve chosen to freelance-
1. Writing for “all” niches
If you want to excel in what you do, pick a niche. targeting a particular industry will not only make you a pro gradually, it will land you into higher paying associations than writing aimlessly about whatever you get.
Analyze your personality for an inclination towards any of the content sectors- Lifestyle, Health, Technology, Fashion, etc.
You will, by doing so, ensure that you write out of interest, and that will reflect in your words.
2. Being a miser in marketing
You need to sell yourself, and how! If you are so determined to live the dream life of working independently and playing around with words, there’s no “enough” of selling yourself.
The social media platforms won’t wither away with your exploitation, use them well!
A major chunk of your time should also go into dropping your resume to potential clients.
3. Relying on an obsolete Resume
When you send out of date resumes, they do what everything obsolete does, they stink!
You do not want to grab on to your essay writing skills back in high school while searching out for work in the real world.
An updated resume will do half of the job of getting jobs for you. Make it witty and impressionable. Here’s a guide to writing an effective resume.
4. Never saying “No”
You might be wanting a project will all your being, but there’s no point in settling for the lowest pay in the market.
While there are recruiters and writers who work on meagre sums of money, no self-respecting writer will ever agree to such an offer.
Remember that there are people who recognize and appreciate talent, and if you have that, you’ll land up lucky!
5. Living in a box
Network! Network! Network!
You cannot stress on this enough. Attend the blogger’s meet, sign up for the effective writing workshop, and when you’re there, talk a lot.
Let it dawn upon you that great offers and opportunities can come from such summits and meets.
If you agree, congratulate me. If not, educate me!
Happy writing! 🙂
